It is a love story between a man and these birds. The prominent place here is the Chuga Ghar, where the birds visit early morning between 7am and 8 am for feeding. Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum, Jodhpur

Built between 1928 and 1943, the sprawling Umaid Bhawan Palace can be seen for miles around. Part of the grand palace is a luxury hotel run by the Taj Group. The Sardar Government Museum, Jodhpur

Located in the verdant green lawns of Ummed Bagh, the Sardar Government Museum is a quiet yet popular tourist attraction in Jodhpur. The museum is named after Sardar Singh, a maharaja of Jodhpur, and was constructed under the reign of his son, Maharaja Umed Singh. It was built by Henry Vaughan Lanchester in 1909 and formally opened to public on 17 March 1936. The Museum is divided into four archaeological areas; armoury, arts and crafts show, and historical section. The exhibits history dates back to nearly the sixth century. The museum’s pride is the paintings with different royalties and the Jain Tirthankaras.

An ancient city with a rich cultural and architectural heritage, it is called the ‘Athens of the east’; but Madurai, arguably, has as much as history as Athens itself. The Greeks traded with the then Pandya kingdom from the 3rd to the 10th century B.C.

The city of Madurai was originally built in the shape of a lotus flower, centred on the celebrated Sri Meenakshi Temple.

Thousand Pillar Museum is the ‘wonder of the place’, Actually the number of pillars count to 985. Each pillar is sculptured and is a monument of the Dravidan sculpture. On a recent trip to Rishikesh, we visited the famous Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, which is a Hindu temple dedicated to Nilkanth, an aspect of Shiva. The temple is situated at a height of 1330 meters and is located about 32 km from Rishikesh in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India.

Mythology states that Neelkanth Mahadev Temple has been built on that sacred point where Lord Shiva had consumed poison at that time of Samudra Manthan, which was churning of the ocean by Devtas (Gods) and Asuras (Demons). The poison was placed in his throat that turned blue to its effect, and thus Lord is also known as Neelkanth. The world Neel means blue and the word Kanth means throat. Devotees of Lord Shiva throng the temple in huge numbers, every year.

Chota Imambara Lucknow
